Last week saw Jah Prayzah depart for Tanzania to meet his fellow music colleague and friend, multi-award winning Diamond Platiinumz. The aim for his trip was to do a collaboration with the celebrated Tanzanian singer, who is widely considered to be the most loved and decorated Tanzanian artist at the moment.
The song, titled Watora Mari, was composed in two languages; with Diamond singing in Swahili and Jah Prayzah bringing in the Shona. Jah Prayzah explains that the song is just a happy song, a party song which is meant to simply entertain.
Commenting on the collaboration, Jah Prayzah says it is a move that both artists hope will be the beginning of a great friendship between the two nations as fans from both Tanzania and Zimbabwe are going to be more aware of musical art from beyond their countries’ borders.
Jah Prayzah expresses his gratitude at having been afforded the chance to work with one of Tanzania’s and indeed, the whole continent ’s best artists, adding that he looks up to him and has always wished to meet him one day. “Despite him being one of the biggest artists in Africa at the moment, Diamond is very humble and passionate about what he does.
I was just a fan of his, watching and listening from a distance, but now my dreams have come true as I have managed not to just meet him, but to have the privilege of working with him on what we both have a passion for; music.” Jah Prayzah is very positive about the song and is confident fans will love it.
